En este día, Belize celebra su victoria en la batalla de Saint George Caye, donde las fuerzas de Belize se enfrentaron al Imperio Español. Esta batalla que se extendió desde el 3 de Setiembre al 10 de Setiembre de 1798, marco la ultima confrontación con el Imperio de España y la autodeterminación de Belize que combatió con fuerzas propias, apoyadas por el Imperio Británico.
